FineScale Modeler at 40th NNL West

Hi!

FSM will be covering the 40th (and sadly, final) NNL West in Santa Clara, CA, Jan. 4, 2025. It will be held in the Santa Clara Convention Center, and we’re looking forward to seeing the turn out to send close out this amazing run for an amazing scale auto car show. If you’re going to be there, please come up and say hi. We want to see you. Not only will we be taking photos of the show, but we’ll shoot some video, too, for use in a future FineScale Modeler Weekly.

Hope to see you there!

I wish I could go to that show. It is supposed to be epic!

But I can’t afford it. So I’ll miss out.

We’ll bring back plenty of photos for you to look at and save you the expense and time. :slightly_smiling_face:

no, no, no, bring me back kits and stuff. HAHA

Why the final one? I don’t see any story on that on the web.

There will be more on that after I return from the show. Going to sit down with the founders and discussing the history and significance. Here’s the link to the info in the website: NNL WEST 40th Anniversary

Such a nice day out, the exact opposite where I’m at ….

I should be halfway to SFO by now, but … issues. So, layover has been extended. Never fear, I’m still heading to NNL West!

That will give you a chance to experience the delights of airport food :joy: and throw down a few overpriced beers.

There’s nothing like an empty wallet and stomach pains when you get to your destination.

Did you make it there Tim?

I did!

When COVID restrictions broke a couple of years ago (2022), didn’t the NNL guys combine forces with IPMS, AMPS, and the Gundam club to throw a single contest under the Best of the West banner at the New Orleans Hotel in Las Vagas? It was a pretty good show, with lots of entries. Maybe they could consider another collaboration?

And someone may very well do that. But the NNL West organizers are retired and in their 70s. They want to do something else other than run a show—and I totally understand. They’ve been doing it for 40 years! There’s nothing saying a new group couldn’t pick up and carry on the NNL. But, for now, that’s not in the cards.
