Find your Instrument Panel here...

Now I can’t think of one, who wouldn’t like to have this site included in their reference material! Many, many helicopters inventoried! [;)] (mainly fixed wing site, but has an excellent rotarywing section too!

Thanks for the post, Frank. I already have that one stored in my ‘favorites’ list! [:)].

As another question of references, how do you guys think that online pictures and references compare to say, a walk-around book or other publication? A matter of preference I suppose, but how in-depth do you guys like to get with your research? I like to think that I have the ability to correct glaring inaccuracies, but a rivet-counter I am not!
Comments.

Personally, I like Walk-Around type publications when I’m working on something, but have also used a print of instrument panel pictures to get the right gauges in the right place. I dug pretty deep into the ACH-47 conversion, mainly using two walk-around type books, and personal photos.

In the process of a super detailed Titanic dio at the present time, and even though their are some excellent books available (I purchased four), I couldn’t have done it without three or four GREAT Titanic modeling sites.

When I “do one up”, I usually build a while and look a while, until I can no longer recognize anything glaringly different. It seems with me, one correction or PE application spawns an adjacent fix… which spawns yet another, and another. After a certain point, I have so much time wrapped up in it that I feel compelled to go for it… strangely though, ?, after I complete one, I rarely ever touch it again.[:O]

I’m no rivet counter either… I guess the old “how much is enough” question is dependent on how much time we have to put into a build, and most importantly, when the Builder is happy with it! [:)] If that’s accomplished, it’s been a successful build. [;)]

Take care,
Frank

I prefer online resources for two main reassons: 1, it is all I have access to at the moment (small college town, no good bookstores); and 2, online is free, enough said.

Whoa…went to the KC-135R and I was right back in the seat again! great site!

Interesting question. I like the books and magazines because I can have multiple images available at the workbench. My printer is not the best available so plain paper print quality leaves a lot to be desired. Therefore, I don’t use the net as a reference as much as I probably should. Because of venues like this, I find myself using those sites recommended by fellow modelers (thanks, Hookey, nice panel site). I am resuming work on a Hind A and have numerous hard references, but the most useful material I have so far are some interior and cockpit photos which were posted on the group build thread. So Im going to vote for all of the above.
This kind of reminds me of the time I asked my 16 year old if he liked the blond or the redhead that passed us in the mall. He looked at me like I had a shoe growing out of the side of my head and replied, “Yup!”
