After about a month of being dormant , my x-acto finally got a decent workout today. This came fresh out of the plastic bags earlier this afternoon and before I knew it most of the sprues were pretty bare. It so far has gone together great, no fit problems or anything else that I can recall. Biggest challenge with this kit is the instructions. Do they not have people that double check these lind of things? So far there has been the same part number being used for totally different parts, part numbers for left side pieces being used for right side counter pieces and just over all misleading items just to name a few. Definalty a kit to double check everything before applying glue.
Over all has been a pretty enjoyable build thus far. I say that now though, still have the link and length tracks to go. Which is another area the instructions lack. The only thing they show is the entire track assembled and according to the instructions should just slip right on the body. Looks like I will be going into those with blinders on.
Here’s how the big boy looks after a few hours of building on it.
Great start Chris. You’ll be done in no time. LOL
Good to see you back at it, Chris, look forward to seeing your progress and result.
They are impressive looking machines, those guns. I’d like to do one someday, so I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts as you go. There is one built up in my LHS, and although it looks like a great machine, it is poorly built, so I can’t wait to see what someone of your skills produces!
Thanks guys.
Phroosh- I would say it is definatly a kit to build. Just be ready to play detective with the drawings. I would rather they be messed up than the plastic anyday personally. The majority of it goes together pretty quick. Considering alot of the pieces have more styrene in them than whole kits that I have done. Now hopefully my skills can hold up to your compliment, thanks.
I found the same thing with the 60cm version of this kit. The instructions also indicated that the track would fit in one piece, I found it was better to break it up into three sub assemblies.
Impressed with your progress lizardging, I’ve being working on mine for about 2 months and still far from finished. Don’t forget to post a photo of the completed model.
Off to a flying start Chris !!!
Keep the little ones away from this build !!!
The thing is a snap to build huh ? Nice big parts and no squinting required ! Yours is coming along nicely , its kinda fun to paint a large kit like that as well , good for camo practice . If you are going to put it in a dio with figures , you need almost an entire army of them to run it .[:D]
and they say “Size doesnt matter” Great build so far, looking forward to seeing it completed:-)
Looks good Chris. I agree, keep us posted on the build up.
Its got to be a nice break to be able to work on something big like that.
Mike
looks good so far!
Good, quick work!
Thanks for the compliments guys. Looking forward to painting and weathering this one for sure.
WOW…On all counts, the way it looks, the time you did it in…
Man just when I thought I had the bigger gun with the jagdtiger…that is GIANT!lookin good so far.
wow it looks big and it looks good.
Thanks again. Hope to have more pics up soon.
Allright , LQ [tup]
Well, that should keep you busy
Looks good !
nice going, Chris!
a very impressive start.
and a nice reminder how some manufacturers ‘spoil’ us w/ good instructions.
awesome chris. glad to see you are back with the knife and plastic.
joe
Thanks again. You ain’t kiding about being spoiled , maybe I should have thrown on a few other kit manufacturers along the way so I would not have gotten spoiled.
