I’ve finally managed to finish my FW190 & Hagelkorn glide bomb, it’s only taken about 3 months, so a fairly swift build by my standards![;)]
The Kit is Revell’s offering in 1/72, and a very nice kit it is too.
I wanted an open cockpit, so went with the CMK cockpit which included a resin, PE, photo film cockpit, with a vacform canopy. this was my first experience with vacform, and something of a trial!!!
I also bought the Extratech flaps set, and cut out the elevators, rudder and ailerons.
Very nice Karl! Good clean build, great paint job and that canopy looks good too. I’ve not played with vacform canopies before, what sort of trouble did you have with it?
Great looking build Karl. Now if I could only get the time to finish the 5 I am working on now. The only time I get to do anything is at work. But thats only on the computer. Well maybe sometime I will.
1/72 scale, thats awesome. Looks like you really put your heart and soul into your FW-190 Karl. I can’t get looks like that in 1/48 scale. semper fi, mike
That is a beautiful build there my friend.
I need to do one of those in 1/48 one of these days.
Was that painted with your Omni 4000?
Thanks for sharing it with us.

waaaaaayyyyyyyyy past likeable Karl…
more like enviable…& excellent rendering…
your subtle wash & weathering testifies to the 190’s purpose…

Thanks for the kind comments guys, I really enjoyed this build as it offered plenty of challenges, not least the canopy.
Charles, you just have to love that Butcher bird. Nothing else gets close in my books.
Tango, I just found the vacform canopy very fragile, escpecially once I had separated the rear portion of the hood from the front screen. I ended up using the Revell front screen as it was way more sturdy. I think it’s just a question of getting used to vacform.
Fightnjoe, the Hagelkorn came with the kit. It was a toss up between this kit and the night fighter version that Revell do as well.
MikeV, like you have to ask! It was my first attempt at Luftwaffe mottle with the Omni, and I’m quite pleased with the way it turned out.
Woodbeck, of course, I only resorted to Tamiya German Grey on the I-16 because I’d finally run out of RLM66. Now restocked.
DJ, between work, the kids and doing up the house, quantity was never going to be a possibility, and I do like put alot into a small kit.
