Final Pics - No Surprises

This an Italeri - Jagdpanzer 38 (to be correct) or “Hetzer”

I added some Eduard PE (not all of it - I wanted to finish some time this year)

I went for the “wash me after church on sunday look” The paint job came out better than I had suspected ( alot of high-low tones ) so I didn’t want to cover it. The kit went together pretty easy.

I did add a little texture to the mantlet. The kit came without a jack, so I didn’t even bother w/ the straps
I didn’t bother with the figures - I’ll do them later

Sorry no surprises -

Build,

Nice job and I like how the camo has the faded look.

Two thumbs way up!!

Nice build Build22! [:D] You did a good job on it. Yeah it’s clean but it still looks good [:D] Keep it up!

psst, i bet Robert and Bill would still like a ride on it even if they won’t admit it [;)]

Very nice Hetzer you have there! I really like the camouflage, and the weathering is just about right for my tastes. I also like the rear tow cable (is that a kit piece, or aftermarket?), the perforated stowage box, and the rust job on the muffler. The tracks look perfect! For an Italeri piece, how was it (fit/finish/accuracy, etc.)? I’ve always liked the 38(t) chassis, and all the things the Germans managed to do with it. This is one kit I need to add to my collection/build!

It is so refreshing to see some pics that don’t have the words “Tiger” or “Sherman” associated with them…Wait!!..who said that?!?

Great looking build, Jim! The weathering looks great. With a paint job like that, who needs figures to take away the glory?

Good-looking Hetzer, Build! Nice texturing on the mantlet. How did you do it? Glue and a little dappling with a stiff brush? Share your secrets! I like the colors you chose, too.
Well done!

Very nice indeed, great choice of colours - I particularly like the subtle mud splashes on the side schurzen - I get exactly the same weathering on my car - excellent attention to detail !

Looks great Jim !!!
Nice clean build all around, camo looks good and nice job on the subtle weathering

Thanks for sharing with us.

build22:
that sure is one good looking Hetzer ! i don’t blame u for not wanting to go too overboard with the weathering, the scheme u chose looks great as is.
thx for sharing it !

Nice job Jim. The Italeri Hetzer is a rough kit to work with IMO. You have done tremendous work on it. Just one suggestion…I usually like to weather up my markings a bit with a nice light overspray of Tamiya buff to blend them in a bit. I prefer DML’s Hetzer’s, but it is nice to see an older kit reworked and done well. Really like the camo and weathering.

Cheers

Rob

Looks Great!

That’s my favorite color scheme for a Hetzer. Reminds me of the real thing.

Ron.

Wow, thanks for the comments guys (& girl)

You gotta love those quirky little german tanks - That 38t chasis is pretty easy. I have two other kits of the same kind. I have seen some great potential for some kitbashing

Erock - thanks - I’d like to say that was exactly what I had planned

Erush - You don’t know how tempted I was to give Sherm and Bill another ride

Styrene - You nailed all of them. The tow cable I added, the tool box was part of the PE, the rust on the exhaust - I textured with a coat of glue and dabbing with a brush -Then a couple layers of a light red-brown wash and then black wash and the kit was about 100 pieces - the under carrage, the hull (all one piece) and the stowage. You could definetly crank one out in no time. The PE slowed things down

Demon - thanks - I sold my Sherm-man figure one e-bay - so I may start looking for another. According to Cookie Sewell’s review (for the hetzer) - “they are zombie like” (they are the exact same ones in the Marder)

J-Hulk - thanks - I dappled the brush for the texture on the exhaust. The mantlet - I actually brushed out regular glue in a couple of layers.the colors are standard german 3-color -Dark yellow (xf-59 w/a littledesert sand) Red brown xf-64 and Dark green xf-61. But because the size of the bands are larger, the colors show different (that I did plan) Which I think is for the better

Ski- thanks - Definetly wanted to keep it to a minimum

Moses - thanks - you’re right about the DML and the dusting - I didn’t want to take any chance of potentially ruining the paint job

Sherm - It is a cute little tank - maybe just a quick trip around the block ?

Frostygirl, Poniatowski - thanks - I appreciate it

Thank you - you guys are quite supportive

Jim

Looks great Build. I keep getting closer and closer to picking up some German steel looking the pics on here. Just need more practice with camo before trying it with a complex looking pattern.

Very nice build Jim. I too, like subtle weathering. I agree it’s an easy build.

Chris, I’m also intimidated at times by German camoflauge, but remember, there was no real set way to do it. Creativity is the limit.

Excellent work Build. The camo is very neat and the weathering is just right. Looking at your work makes me jump to working on the Sturmtiger. Ah, maybe later.

Thanks for the pics. A surprise would have been nice.

Great work bro! Man, that makes me want to dive into a 1/16 Hetzer or Stug now!
(This hobby can be dangerous to my wallet!)

Thanks again - I appreciate the comments

I missed one shot

Lizardqing and Tigerman -The camo isn’t so bad - if all else fails, you can lightly sketch it with pencil.

Dwight - maybe next one for the surprise

Okieboy - thanks

Thanks RonUSMC again

Not much else to say, everything has been said, really. It’s a lovely model you came up with Build22. Just two little things, just maybe, if you do not mind… I’d have put a bit of rust on those tracks, maybe a weak red-brick wash, and I’d replace the antenna with a thinner sprue. In any case, superb work. Keep them coming!

DJ - You are right about the antenna.

I just couldn’t resist actually getting an antenna in a model. I didn’t have to use “the Stretched Sprue Method” It is definetly out of scale, but it never broke ! I put it on when I did the hull. With all the handling, it never broke. Now the PE for the skirts, that’s another thing

Excellent paint and weathering. From what I can see , it’sa very clean build. I really like it. Keep up the good work!!
