Here’s the finals I’ve selected for the Tulsa Modelers Show this coming Saturday, April 8 2017 in Bixby, Oklahoma. Time to give it another shot. I’ve been fine tuning them all week in hopes of being slightly competitive, Hah. These participants are way too serious compared to me but it is fun to compete and see what’s required in my attempt next year, LOL! All fun and lots of vendors with low prices, model talk everywhere!
Here’s a quick photo shoot of the final four displays before they are all shot down in flames! LOL! I’ll try to get some shots of the show for a mini-report.
Wow! Thanks Gang for your support! I was only reporting in! While fine tuning the entries I imagine myself as the judge and I start seeing all the things the judge will. I’ve repaired most of my silvery decals, thanks to the Gangs advice, and smoothed over some glaring flaws, all those things that make the perfect model. Everytime I begin a new project, it’s goal is "the perfect model"which never happens but miniscule improvements are visible at the finish. Maybe it’s like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow just over the next hill. Maybe there isn’t a perfect model or at least it seems so. I do realize my age related growing limitations and other distractions of life preventing the perfect model but I do slightly improve with each try and what would life be without challenges?
Lotsa philosophy here, but I’m starting to realize that the perfect model doesn’t exist at least for me. Now my goals are fun and improvement. Challenges I now realize are the good part of the game. Things to be figured out, satisfaction when they are. As long as I’m improving with age, however slight, all is good. Again the Gang has been a good influence on my wandering model career with encouragement, technical assistance and fun social interaction.
The model show is part of the game, a test of skills or at least improvement as, will I do better this time? I hope so but not really life threatning! LOL!----Expectations, low, Fun factor, high. It’s all icing on the cake from here!
Max - They’re all great, you’ll do fine with the judging. (My money will be on the A-37, a real beaut.) Thanks for the look, best wishes for the event, please send photos of all your trophies. (:>)
Great looking presentations Max. I wish I could go down and meet you and check out the vendors, but I need to spend the day repairing storm damage from last nights big blow.
I missed the big one last night but the wind is howling as we speak! Tear 'em up gusts of 45mph. I finally came inside. Maybe we can do the show next year, put it on your calender!
Max, allow me to echo my feelings that you have several potential prize winners on display. I think I’m leaning towards the A-37, but they are all nice. Glad to see you are going in to have fun, and may I wish you tons of fun, good hunting to fill out the stash and inspiration for the next round of Max’s museum expansion!
I must say that the Gang is a good cheering section! This was just to be a weekend outing to entertain the wife and I. Now I have to look back through the models and tune them one more time. With a support base like this, more than just a ribbon is a stake, Judgement Day is upon me! LOL! The Gang’s support has increased the Fun Factor by orders of magnitude! Thanks everyone, you’re a great bunch!
I think I took ten models last time to the show. I felt lucky to get one white ribbon as an amateur in the show. IMPS shows are not for the weak at heart. We’ll do the best we can, it’s all for fun!
Well, my wife printed five entry forms rather than four and it’s only $2 to enter one more. I browsed the Museum one more time. Another class would give me more chances to win something. Ah, maybe something for the Armour guys. My German Leopard was fourth out of four the last time due to lack of mud, battle damage and weathering plus wear and tear. Of course they deserved to win, they were all outstanding. Hmm, but the Museum is not in to destruction but reconstruction and factory new. I’m not putting any mud on my factory Leopard. I guess I’ll fight the Battle clean. Better to have fought the Battle and lost than to have never fought at all and all those other sayings that go along with losing. We’ll give it a shot, so to speak! [:^)]

Ps–This Hobby Boss 1/35 Leopard is really a nice kit. I bought it on sale for peanuts. It has cool PE screens and such. My one and only Armour, I was was happy with the final!
