Hi all! Can any of you tell me what your preferred material and/or method is, for fillin’ ejector pin marks on plastic track links? I’m thinkin’ of superglue, but it may not be ideal on such a small area! I need somethin’ that requires minimal sandin’, if I can help it! Thanks!
I just plop a blob of Tamiya Polyester Putty on each pin mark, wait an hour, then sand 'em down. The sanding is the quick and easy part, depending on the type of track.
Oh yeah, I assemble as much of the track as possible before doing that. That way, sanding is usually just a straight shot down the length.
Hope that helps!
That’s a good idea, to fit the links together, and then sand! Thanks man! I’ll guess i’ll use some of my white Squadron putty. This stuff is lethal though, it contains Toluene, it can cause liver, kidney and brain damage! I’m not worried about the last one, it’s the other two! lol
Typewriter correction fluid for me. Use a pen-type applicator and it’s quick and easy to apply. Sand it down with sanding sticks and you’re done. Dries quicker than putties, easier to work with than superglue and accelerator.
Cheers,
Chris.

Typewriter correction fluid!!!
What a good idea. I’m going to try it.
Dan
Yeah, but does this provide a barrier against paint, or will it soak up the paint, makin’ it look inconsistent with the link. It may be porous, is what I mean!
Er, Eddie, you are going to prime your tracks before painting them, aren’t you? I’ve been using this method to fill ejector pin marks in indy tracks for years now, with no problems at all. Don’t know if there would be problems if you didn’t prime your model before painting, because I always do.
Cheers,
Chris.
Yeah, I prime, but you know what, I’m gonna’ order in some Mr. Surfacer 500, and use this! Either apply it with a brush straight from the jar, or airbrush it. Or some Tamiya Liquid Primer! Thanks for your tips, i’ll be tryin’ 'em all out in the long run!
