I’m starting on a ship building marathon adventure. I’ve been displaying my sailing ships lately on a water base and would like to have a crew on the ships. I’m building kits like Revell’s USCG Eagle, Golden Hind, 1/225 HMS Victory,& 1/196 Constitution, Lindberg’s America Cup racer, armed schooner, and some Heller ships like the Thonier Armor & La Tartane. Does any know of either a company that makes small scale figures for these ships or can recommend a 3-D printing company? I realize that I’ll probably have to “adapt” these figures for each kit and that’s okay with me. Thank you
Luis (panzervstanks on Shapeways) has several different figures that may be of use. He is great to work with and can rescale to the scale that you need. I have used 1/144, 1/160, and 1/125 scale figures from him in the past (WWII US Navy).
You’re correct tcoat, the 1/96 Constitution does come with some figures but I really want to “liven” things up and add a lot more crew to the models. The smaller Revell kits usually didn’t include any figures and if they did it was just a few line they did with the HMS Bounty. I’m still looking.
There are more model RR scales than just O, HO, and N. Some, while not exactly the right scale, but close enough. People vary in size. In particular for period ships, say two centuries or more older, people were shorter than today.
A place called Tichy Trains carries a lot of figures, even vehicles and things.
