Figure Shaping?

Hi!
is there any way to re-position a figure’s arms and legs so that they conform to a diorama’s story? I have heard that softening the plastic will help. Is this so? How hard is it to do?

I’ve always done Sawing,Pinning, & Puttying.

Sometimes you can soften the plastic and reposition a limb, but the resulting piece isn’t likely to look natural. This is true of figures made of styrene as well as the softer plastic like Airfix uses.

The better way is to cut the figure apart and reposition it. It’s not hard, just takes practice, like everything else. If you have figures to practice on, you can try it and get a feel for the techniques.

Another source on how to do this is Shep Paine’s “How to Build Dioramas”. It’s worth picking up a copy. Here’s an example on Amazon:

Hope that helps!

Best regards,
Brad
