To all of my fellow encyclopedia’s of useless and useful knowledge I have a few questions reguarding the names of aircraft. I just saw a thread a few days ago about a fictional aircraft that a gentleman built for his wife. Seeing that rekindled the same project within me, so I have a few names that I was wondering if anybody knew of an aircraft that used the same name in the title.

Not in the slightest, I think it would actually be kinda cool if they varied to kinda symbolize the diversity amongst us. Allthough we are all the same blood(except the wife, we adopted her) we are not all the same. Im glad you brought that up, opened up a nice thought process for me. thank you
After looking at a few nose art websites, i’m not seeing anything that might work for you. But i wonder if this might be an option- actually creating your own nose art. Aside from the fact that those names aren’t all that common, i’m seeing mostly pin-up girls showing a rather large amount of nudity with names like Lucky Lady, Cherokee Strip, Miss Behavin, Slick Chick, etc. You might not want to use those as tributes to your family, i suspect.
Of course the plus side to creating your own nose art is that you can tailor it more to to them and personalize it. Just a thought…

Yeah, that was my plane…I ended up printing my own decals. Easy to do and it wont restrict your ideas for names and nose art. If your interested, I can help you out with the process.
In my opinion, since those names are somewhat uncommon to see on aircraft, I’d get some decal-making software and the decal paper/film and make your own. That’d be the best way to customize it to your content. Someone else’ll have to tell you what stuff you need for that because I have no knowledge on that subject…

Don’t mean to get off topic, of course. But personally i do love the idea of making your own personalized nose art! I think the family would really love it…[tup]
After modeling a multitude of historically accurate aircraft (kit limitations aside), part of the reason I am getting back into the hobby is to model “my” version of various aircraft and other vehicles. In other words, had I been a pilot during a particular era, with a particular group or wing or squadron, what would my plane (helicopter, tank, APC, truck, jeep, etc.) have looked like?
This is not meant to take anything away from those brave men and women who were there, but my attempt to be there myself.
I think its a great Idea, do you have any candid photos of her you could turn into nose art on a P-51 then send the model to her parents for christmas?
I probably wouldn’t do that anyways. As much of a toll it’s taking on me, i’m not that vindictive. I do still love her after all.
Of course, on the other hand, i wouldn’t have any reservations about having something for my own collection! And for some reason, i keep thinking that a P-47 would make for a really good canvas!
I have a few of nose art books at home. A couple them have directories with names used/listed. If you’d like, I can take a look and see if I see anything with those names. If I do, I’ll post 'em.
It’s funny that I just found someone to do some custom nose art for me. I’ve been meaning to “immortalize” my fiance on the nose of a 1/48 P-51. As soon as I get the artwork, I’m gonna start on my project too.
That would be awesome, thanks man. I may have to think about custom decals but I dont have a printer and I am on the tightest budget known to man. So it may have to wait. I tell you with all the interest this is getting I think I smell a group build on the horizon…unfortunatly if it were started soon I would not be able to participate
Yeah, i’m with ya there! I think that would be an awesome GB, but i know i’m pretty much booked for awhile. I had been kicking around the idea of starting my own GB about this time next year, so maybe it’s something to think about…
