I am looking at installing fiber-optic lighting into an old 1/650 scale USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) model. Since I have never worked with fiber-optics does anyone know of any good basic fiber-optic reference material to get me started. I has been looking all over the internet and although there is much info on the subject, it all seems rather confusing to me. thanks.

Whatever you do, don’t use actual glass fiber optic cable. It’s difficult to work with and dangerous. The fiber is too thin to provide adequate illumination for scale modeling anyway.
I bought some plastic fiber from these guys a few years ago…
