This is my federation destroyer USS Alexander. it used a Polar Lights kit. The only other thing I bought was a set of decals. I will use the left overs for other ships. I did not buy the destroyer conversion kit that is online, there seemed to be no point, a little work gets you the same results. I scratch built the antenna complete in about 30 minutes.
I then sprayed the whole thing with $1.00 per can generic primer grey paint. Then several coats of gloss sealer. The decals were straight forward, and another one is on the shelf
Hello ap me, I admit I am not a fan of Trek Kits/Models, do love the series and all the movies. Nice clean job on build and paint. Glad you are here posting on the Sci-fi Forum/FSM.
thanks, i have about 10 ships in the star trek line to finish, as well as 2 scratch builds, then i will do something else. or just start designing my own.
Funnily enough I am building a similar ship at the moment. I scrapped the Enterprise as I wasn’t happy with it so I started to build a destroyer(Saladin class IIRC).
very cool, i got the decals on line from federation models. they come with several names, so several different ships. like everyone says. share the photos
sorry chris, i have good models, but a cheep camera. i am about done with my baton rouge class cruiser, the uss kennedy, ncc 1363. i should post it in a day to a week, depending on my camera problems .
Even a cheap digital camera should be able to take a decent shot. Here are a few tips.
#1 See if your camera has a macro setting. On more basic cameras, it’ll be a flower symbol.
#2 Put a light on each side of the subject, diffuse it through a piece of white tissue (like the stuff people put in gift bags.)
#3 Set the camera on something, get it in focus, set the timer! This way you won’t have any hand-shake affecting the focus.
#4 Don’t get too close. Most cameras can’t focus inside of 2 feet. Better to stay back a bit and zoom in, or just crop and enlarge the image when uploading it.
