We were talking about these at work, and I remembered "WKRP in Cincinnati " and the word that got Johnny Fever fired in LA…
I can think of quite a few that I have enjoyed and used
Go ahead,make my day.
Make him an offer he can’t refuse
What we have here is a failure to communicate
That’s mighty big talk for one eyed fat man
Billy Bob as Crockett at the Alamo, were gonna need more men
I’ll be back
So many more
One that I think of almost every time I sit down at the workbench or read a book is Johnny Fives “Input, Input”.
Another is “I love the smell of Napalm in the morning”.
Jim [cptn]
Agreed, that there are many. One of my all time favorites is from WKRP, too…“As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly!”
From Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid—Robert Redford to Paul Newman…(after the train car is blown to splinters):
“Think you used enough dynamite there, Butch?”
“You’re gonna need a bigger boat”.
“Thank you for your cooperation. Good night.”
“A day in the corps is like a day on the farm; every meal a banquet, every paycheck a fortune, every formation a parade, I LOVE the corps!!!”
I have SO many “go-to” one liners!
Top of the list…
“Bend over and I’ll show ya!” Clark W. Griswold (works for just about any question!)
There are loads i like from Monty Pythons Life of Brian. Unfortunatly my favorites are not printable in full.
But one i can print
Pailin ‘‘Your nose is going to be 3 foot wide across your face by the time i’ve finished with you’’
Idle ‘‘Who hit yours then, Goliaths big brother’’
I feel the need, the need for speed!
I have come here today to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I’m all out of bubble gum.
John
I’m your huckleberry
The needs of the many, outweigh the needs of the few
No, I am your father
Who’s the best pilot you ever saw?
Problem is ;
The one liner I remember best is the one that was actually musical .The whistled theme from " The High And The Mighty "
I thought about it for the first time in many years after the ambulance with me and another person rolled away from a 747 crash .
That was over Thirty five years ago .Still whistle the darned thing . As far as spoken ones I have to go with " You’re gonna need a bigger boat " T.B.
You do know how to whistle don’t you Steve? Just put your lips together and blow? Followed of course by Bogie’s rsponse.
And from Sgt. Schultz “I know nothing, nothing!”
“Thank you sir, may I have another.”
I am your father’s brother’s roommate’s nephew’s cousin.
“You’re killin’ me Smalls”
“Feeling lucky punk?”
And from Bridge Over the River Kwai as the Japanese commander addresses the new British prisoners;
“Be happy in your work!”
“This is just a flesh wound…”
“Did we give up when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor…”
“That’s what she said…”
I ate his liver with some fava beans with a nice Chianti
Hanibel Lechter-silence of the lambs
Stik,love Tombstone
Are you just gonna stand there and bleed ?
I loved watching Moonlighting with Cybill Sheperd and Bruce Willis back in the mid 80’s. When they got into bad situations and Maddy would say to David “we are gonna get killed” but David Addison would come back with his famaous line…“no we won’t, it’s in the script!”
Whenever my wife is watching a movie or a series and says something like “how are they gonna get out of this one?” I just reply to her the Bruce Willis one liner…“it’s in the script.”
