ok, ok, I may be going off the deep end with my job here, but I like it and while I’m sitting in my swather for 14 hours a day, I get to thinking about modeling a bit and I thought: hey , why doesn’t some model company come out with farm equipment models? people like Rob Gronovius and Redleg can do models of their line of work, so how come I can’t? does anyone think this is a good idea or am I nuts? (and no, I do not want to try scratchbuilding an entire swather or combine or tractor)
Chris,
AMT/ERTL released several farm models during the
1970’s. Here’s what they had ; MF 1155 , IH 1466 , JD 4430 for
the tractors, a wagon and turning plow . Ertl re-released the
JD 4430 and bulldozer a couple of years ago.Wish they would
re-release the rest of them.

I thought ertl might have but I had never seen any of them. I have looked through plenty of ertl catalogues in my time
you could always superdetail the diecasts done by Britains, i think that they scale out at 1/32. plus there is always the old landrover that every farm in this country (the UK)seams to have abandoned in a barn or field, that would make a nice diorama . co-incidentaly one of my (real) landies is an ex farm truck (a 1957 series 1 lwb diesel)…Greg
Hey Chris,
Have a look at
www.stubbleking.com
It’s a website for some zero till seed drills that we make here in Oz - I’m in the process of making the masters for all of the components to make a 1/10 scale model of one…
Cool stuff - we’ll use it as a selling and marketing tool at field days and ag demonstrations.
Cheers,
LeeTree
During my teen years I worked for the local John Deere dealership and they carried John Deere kits made by ertl. But recently down in Victoria I saw a caterpillar backhoe kit I can’t remember who made it but it should’nt be hard to find.
