Fairly basic question - need a tracks how to

Hey all,

First I apologize for my question which is fairly basic/newbie, however, I am stuck. As I said in my intro thread, I am returning to the hobby after 30 years, and much has changed.

I am building as my first project back, a Tamiya 1/48 Tiger I Intial production (Africa Corps) kit, and the tracks are driving me nuts. They give you the guide on the sprue, but once I get them built, I end up destroying them taking them off the guide. Additionaly, I don’t like how stiff the preassembled sections are.

Questions:

  1. Any tips to thier assembly?

  2. Is their a better aftermarket alternative?

Thanks for any help, the talent on this board is amazing and very inspiring.

I found a resin track set at Mission Models and ordered it, looks to be a nice set.

Sounds like you found a solution. I’ve never seen the tracks and/or guide in the 1/48th Tiger. I am starting to put individual track links on the Tamiya Early Tiger. I would imagine it’s similar to the 1/48.

Check out http://matt24.fotopic.net/c778272.html This how I construct that type of tracks. I hope it helps. Don’t hesitate to ask if I’ve missed something. Theres good folks here.

Hey Matt,

Thanks for the link, the tutorial was helpful.

Cool, let us know how it turns out.
