Fairchild-Republic A-10A Thunderbolt II - Italeri - 1/72 - Desert Storm

This is the first jet aircraft that I built after 25 years of WWII subjects (last one was a 1/48 Monogram F-102 Delta Dagger, when I was in high school).

The A-10 was completed today after a long 7-8 months period. The kit was not exactly good, some details are nice, some are not, fit is tricky and it generally gave me a hard time - but I liked it.
The ejection seat is a cheap Quickboost resin that was modified/improved.
A basic Eduard PE set was used for the cockpit.
The Mavericks and GBU’s were taken from Hasegawa weapons sets (I found them veeery cheap at a shop, and bought a couple).
I retrospect I should have also replaced the Sidewinders.
Painting was done free-hand with Gunze acrylics and my trusty Badger velocity.
I loved and opted to use the decals with the beautiful arabian night theme.
I took some artistic license for various details, such as the red airbrakes (I was seeing Dauntlesses in my sleep) green wheel hubs, NMF drop tank, the lizard and smiley decals, etc.
The build has numerous mistakes and defects, but I thought of posting the (any) result, just for fun and gossip.
I still haven’t figured out where the bloody propellers are supposed to be attached…

Well done! Who doesn’t love a Warthog?! Great camo and man she’s loaded for bear. Great job.

Always loved the warthog, looks great, nice job bud.

Nice build and nice color scheme. I built this kit in the older OA-10A Warthog boxing with a gray color scheme as an ANG plane. Nice job on a really nice kit , has a few issues but really looks the part.

Nicely done! Love the warthogs. I’ve always dreamed of mounting the gatling gun from a 'hog on the roof of my car!
