I finally put the finishing touches on Hasegawa’s 1/48 F6F-3. This project was commisioned as a Christmas gift for my buddy’s dad. I used an Eduard photo etch set which added some life to the model. The figures and carrier deck are from Verlinden. I initially didn’t want the Verlinden deck, but I didn’t have much success with balsa. The deck turned out looking nice. I’m really proud of the Hellcat. It may be my best work, but constructive critisism is always appreciated. However, don’t make too much fun of the figures. I’m not good with figures.
Looks superb to me! I’ve havent tried figures yet but when I do I hope they look as good as these! And both the plane and the deck, well,… just tell your buddy the dog ate the whole thing and send it to me, cool??!
Say…that looks familiar! It looks like you’ve enjoyed this kit as much as I did. Despite the 'purists" who never fail to point out the “mishapen” cowling on the Hasegawa kit, it looks like a Hellcat to me.
Congratulations on a super build. The decking and figures are great too…
This was a relatively easy kit in my opinion. It fit together well and packed in some good detail in the plastic. I still felt the need to add some photo-etch. I started the build in early October. The figures were simple, so they only took a few hours a piece. I’m glad you guys liked it.
I didn’t want to over-weather. There came a point after panel lines (artist pencil) and exhaust stains (artist chalks applied with a make-up applicators from Target) that weathering just seemed complete.
