F6F Completed Pics (Many Pics)

Hey Guys,

I finally put the finishing touches on Hasegawa’s 1/48 F6F-3. This project was commisioned as a Christmas gift for my buddy’s dad. I used an Eduard photo etch set which added some life to the model. The figures and carrier deck are from Verlinden. I initially didn’t want the Verlinden deck, but I didn’t have much success with balsa. The deck turned out looking nice. I’m really proud of the Hellcat. It may be my best work, but constructive critisism is always appreciated. However, don’t make too much fun of the figures. I’m not good with figures.

Semper Fi,

Chris

Hey looks good to me. I think the figures look fine and the deck looks good also. You should be proud of this one. I like it.

Looks superb to me! I’ve havent tried figures yet but when I do I hope they look as good as these! And both the plane and the deck, well,… just tell your buddy the dog ate the whole thing and send it to me, cool??!

Very nice…the complete deal. How long did the project take you? You can be proud of this one! Great pics, too

Great work! That’s one of the nicest presentations I’ve seen.

What a treat to see a model that isn’t dominated by way overdone panel lines.

This hobby seems on track to become panel line demos – with the airplane being incidental. Thanks for the ray of hope in the other direction.

Pat

Your buddy’s dad is going to be one happy camper. That is a real beauty.

Say…that looks familiar! It looks like you’ve enjoyed this kit as much as I did. Despite the 'purists" who never fail to point out the “mishapen” cowling on the Hasegawa kit, it looks like a Hellcat to me.

Congratulations on a super build. The decking and figures are great too…

Regards,

Steve

Great looking build. The deck looks first class. I agree that the aircraft has just enough weathering and the panel lines do not look toy like. [tup]

Makes me want to finish mine. Nice work, and well-presented, too! [tup]

Hey guys thanks for the kind words.

This was a relatively easy kit in my opinion. It fit together well and packed in some good detail in the plastic. I still felt the need to add some photo-etch. I started the build in early October. The figures were simple, so they only took a few hours a piece. I’m glad you guys liked it.

I didn’t want to over-weather. There came a point after panel lines (artist pencil) and exhaust stains (artist chalks applied with a make-up applicators from Target) that weathering just seemed complete.

Crockett, Your machine looks awesome.

Semper Fi,

Chris

The weathering looks excellent. A nice build indeed.

Outstanding build Chris! Everything looks superb! [8D] [tup] [tup]

I’ve always loved the Hellcat. You did a first rate job! I especially liked the oil stains and gun exhaust. Nicely detailed[bow] Frank

Good looking Hellcat Chris. Well done !!

Regards, Rick

I think your buddy’s Dad will LOVE it.

GREAT Build
