I am building an old Italeri 1:48 F4E/F to be an F4B in tribute to an old friend who flew 300+ missions in Vietnam and has recently died.
I got a lot of pictures from the F4 forum master but not much cockpit detail.
I don’t want to have to buy PE detail kits but would like to simulate seat harnesses. I read about doing this with the foil from wine bottles and I have plenty of them! [H] >>>>>[:$]
I wonder how much detail to show? What is the scale width? Finally, the seats that I built have rings on the top. Is that where the harnesses attached? And what color are the straps?
I’d be looking at a different base kit to represent an F4B.
The F4E/F has the wing bulges, wider main wheels, longer afterburner cans, slotted stabilisers and a different nose. (Those are the main visible differences).
The two rings on the top of the seat are not harness attachment points, they are the ejection seat face-blind pull-handles. See here for seat details: http://www.ejectionsite.com/usnh7.htm
Phil - I was afraid that the models would be different but that is what I have. If I get inspired, I will find an F4B, but I am really not sure what Bob flew. It was 1966-7 in Marine Corps, Death Rattlers, VMFA-323.
Thanks for the tip about the rings, and with the above picture, think I can do it. [:D[[]
