F2H-2 Banshee

Hi there
can’t find good drawing for this bird (Testors kit is waiting).
please help

Firstly,
[#welcome]
to the forums!

What specifically are you looking for? There are quite a few pictures and sites for the Banshee out there, and http://uscockpits.com/Jet%20Fighters/Jet%20Fighters.html#F2H website has a few cockpit pics for her. Hope this is helpful!

thank you brain44, but…

i’m looking for detailed drawings and cockpit/wheel bays photos exactly of F2H-2

2 evenings in the Web - and almost nothing ((

You may want to check out this website to see if there’s a Banshee on display nearby where you live, then you could take photos of what you need.

www.landings.com/_landings/pages/museums.html

Otherwise, I’d have to say don’t let the relentless pursuit of every exact detail deter you from enjoying a build. We’re supposed to be having fun out here!

If you try http://uscockpits.com/Jet%20Fighters/Jet%20Fighters.html#F2H you will get some cockpit pictures, I appreciate that they are not the exact variant you mention, but better than nothing.

Here you will find some pics, including landing gear http://www.clubhyper.com/reference/f2hreferencefr_1.htm

May, 03 and Oct 07 FSM’s have articles on the Banshee. I haven’t looked at them recently to remember how much of a help they will be to you, but one used the Testors/Hawk kit.

I’m from Ukraine )) So i’m absolutely shure that there is no Banshee in the radius of a few thousand km )))

thanks )

were they identical at F2H-2 and F2H-3?

P.S. still need drawings

There is a book by Steve Ginter. Naval Fighters No. Two, McDonnell Banshee, F2H-1,-2,-B,-N,

-P, -3,-4.

78 pages, 95 B&W photos, histories, unit markings, cockpit layout, split top/bottom drawing (line art) interesting shots of intake/exhaust/main ldg gear/nose.

Author’s address; S. Ginter, 1754 warfield Cir., Simi Valley Calif, 93063

Hope that helps.

Regards,

Chuck

Welcome to the forums Tali.[#welcome]. I built that Testors kit a while ago and ended up throwing it in the garbage. I tried to scratch build some details but there was no hope for that kit. Then in October 07 there was an article in FSM on how to build up the wheel bays etc and that may be your best source of information you can get on that kit. Worth the read.

Steve

The 2 and the 3 are not identical, the 2 had the shorter fuselage. I’ve heard that the fuselage profile is not too accurate on the Testors kit, but it is the only one in 1/48. In 1/72 the Airfix F2H-2 is pretty accurate and also comes with the camera nose, and the Academy F2H-3/4 kit is a very nice kit.

thanks to all of you

so, now i have

F2H Banshee in action
Naval fighters book
a couple of walks
very poor drawings from airwar.ru (by the way - good site with plenty drawings)
and Testors’ kit of course

but i do need good drawings. without them i can’t start working ((
