Something is wrong with my F/A-18 Hornet. It either went through a time warp and didn’t come out the other side quite right or else it overdosed on steroids!
Help! [alien]
I vote for the steroids. Nice build, sometimes it fun do do such kits.
Did you read the instructions while building?
I don’t get it. What’s wrong with it ? [(-D][(-D][(-D]
Regards, Rick

Are eggplanes still available? I would love to find/acquire a few!!
Gip Winecoff
You might be able to still find the odd one here and there, but AFAIK they have stopped producing them some time ago.
I really liked their little dio’s like the Harrier cab, etc.
Awwwwww! Look at the cute widdle baby Hornet! Now, play nice with the other planes! [;)]
Nice looking egg yardbird! [tup] I’d love to have the Blackbird egg.
Hey yard,
Where did you find that and who makes it??? I’d love to get my hands on one thats fur sure.
Do they make any others??
Flaps up, Mike
Butz, inpw1 & styrene I don’t think the egg plane series is being manufactured anymore, but they are available on ebay every so often. Go to models and kits and do a search for “egg” or “egg plane” A couple of different companies have made them. Occasionally you can find one hiding in a dusty corner of your LHS. I have seen them for the F-4, AV-8, A-7, SR-71, Space Shuttle, F-86, Mig-15, F-14, F-15, F-16, F-18, UH-1, Hughs 500, 747, 727, A-300, Concorde, DC-3, Zero, Me-109, FW-190, Spitfire, P-51, P-47, etc. There may be more, but those are ones I can remember. I have built the SR-71, 2 F-4s, 2 F-18s, A-7 and F-16. My daughter hijacked one Hornet and the latest Phantom. I put the F-16 and a Phantom in my LHS for display and a part time clerk sold them to a customer. The F-4 has the little “Spook” hauling a trailer with 2 bombs on it. The F-16 is from 8th TFW @ Osan and has an outhouse under it. The SR-71 is over a globe with a “Ruskie” looking at it with binoculars. [:)] [^] [alien]
About 55gls of cod liver oil mixed with the next tank of JP-5 should reduce that swelling. Oh! don’t stand to close to the exhaust when you hit the igniters. Sweet little build, thanks for sharing. Semper Fi, mike
What would an XF-85 look like in “egg-plane” form?
LOL!!
That looks great! I love those little things!
I remember building a DC-10 egg over 30 years ago…man, it’s hard to believe they’ve been out that long…I also remember doing a space shuttle…
I wonder what ever happened to all the models I built and no longer have…
yardbird: you’re using WAY too much pressure on your airbrush when you painted the insides of the intake ducts!![swg]
There is 1 or 2 eggplanes at my LHS. Since it is payday and all, I will go down there to have a look at what it/they are, and the cost!
Your hornet looks great.
Being a Helicopter man (with capital H) myself, I find the Hughes 500 sorta like an “eggplane”[:D][:D]
The F3D Skyknight also has great egg potential. But the pilots’ and crews’ nickname for it, DRUT, suggests another, much less pleasant, shape.
