F/A-18 Hornet

Hi everybody
I’ve been looking for a 1/48 F-18 kit and my choices are the Italeri F/A-18A Hornet and the Hasegawa F/A-18 Hornet. I don’t really care that much about what type the Hornet is but I just want to get a good kit.

I might sugest seeing Topic " ahornets nest, and ask Ga.modeler he seem to have them all…

I would go with the Hasegawa. I have built several of them and they were very nice. I looked at an Italeri kit and did some dry fitting and the fit was not as good as the Hasegawa kit. I also found the cockpit detail to be better with the Hasegawa kit.

I am a big fan of twin seater Hornets, so I too like the Hasegawa F/A-18D kit… It is the exact same kit as the C, but gives you the longer canopy for the twin seat version… In saying that, I have only modelled the Hornet in 1/72

In my opinion, I would go with the Hasegawa over the Italeri one. I have a hasegawa kit and from what I have seen in the box, it was worth the money. Just my [2c].

well dave i dont have them all yet but i am working on it in 1/72 scale. i cant afford the 1/48 kits and i really dont have room for the big boys either. but if he does want a good kit i would suggest the hasaawa in any scale. hope this helps from a hornet nutt rob[:D][:D]

Yeah, I got both company’s versions. The Italeri version ( a Swiss 2-seater) I started about a year ago and got discourged because of the poor forward fuselage/center fuselage fit. I have yet to start my Chippy (Hasegawa) kit. I also have a Fujimi kit but don’t know what the fit is. Their F-4 kits were great, though years ago. - Calvin

IMO, the Hasegawa kit is the one to go with by a wide margin.

EDIT: Oops, I just noticed that you said 1:48 scale. [:I][:p] Although I think Hasegawa would definitely be preferable there as well, although one has to weigh that against the cost, which is something else altogether. Actually, the Monogram Hornet in 1:48 is pretty decent, if you don’t mind raised panel lines…
