F/A-18 Ejection Seats?

Does any Hornet fan out there know what range of F-18 “bort numbers” have the SJU-17 ejection seat? Would you be willing to share that info? [8)]

Thanks,

Bwog

Sorry, but if you can tell me exactly what the “bort numbers” are, I can try and look it up for you. I have the Squadron Walk Around and its pretty thorough.

EDIT

I looked in my book and it just says that the Hornets used seats SJU-5A and SJU-6? It says about the new Super Hornets, that they retain the NACES ejection seats, if thats the SJU-6, I don’t know, but it sounds like it? Sorry, I guess I’m not any help.[V]

Eizzle,

My understanding is bort numbers are like serial numbers. Thanks for looking, that helps! Bwog[:D]

Do you mean “Bureau” numbers (often abbreviated as BuNo) ?? From a quick search, it seems the term “bort number” is more commonly associated with Russian aircraft and seems to refer to the “side number” of the a/c rather than the serial number.

PhilH,

You could be right…I’m afraid i’ve seen numerous different names for the six diget number that is painted on the F-18’s aft left and right side.

Thanks for your time,

Bwog

Sorry for straying from your original question, but here’s a few interesting references regarding numbering of USN aircraft.
