I have a F-89H that I can build with the Falcon missiles.
The kit’s intructions is vague on what the missile bay interior colors are. Have seen photos showing the missles displayed, but they are a combination of being b&w with a not very good angle/view of the missile bays itself, doors including.
Of the few that I seen, I keep thinking it is either interior green, black or aluminum. With the first two colors being the more prevaliant.
And from my small sample research into other planes from this time frame (post WW2 to 1955, if not 1960), excluding the cockpit, the interior colors application varies or the specs were still being worked out. Is there a Dana Bell like book that attemps to explain the evolution of the interior color issues with planes from this era?
Looking at photos, it looks like the doors were painted match the exterior colors. Hard to be sure on B&W photos. The internal parts were probably interior green, but that’s just a guess based off the rocket tubes on earlier models. Each aircraft company tended to do their own thing in that era.
My Detail & Scale has only a few color photos. There are a couple that show the fire control and equipment bay doors open. In those, it’s a darker version of chromate green.
The b & w shots of the wheel wells show the nose well as dark, probably the same green. The inner surfaces of the main gear doors are silver.
No pics of the main gear wells.
The cockpit inside of the airframe is a light gray.
The P-61 of an earlier generation of Northrop aircraft had a lot of green in the interiors.
I’ve never seen the missile bays in a photo, much less modeled. Nice idea.
