F-86E finished

This is for the Forgotten War GB, a combination of 1/48 Academy F-86F and Revell F-86D so I could get the slatted early wing. The markings are ALPS and spares box, and one or two stencils from the Academy sheet. SNJ and Alclad paints. There are more photos at the group build thread, /forums/955434/ShowPost.aspx

and the whole process on my website, http://yolo.net/~jeaton/mymodels/f86/1f86e/1f86e.htm

Hey John,

Love your build especially the name you choose…!! Is this an actually a/c or did you build this as a “what if”…

How was the over all build/painting of the Sabre?

And again love the over all build… Just curious, what would it take to have you make me a copy of the art work n name?[:-^][;)]

Simply an awesome job…!!

Flaps up,

Mike

John, stunning work my friend!!![tup][bow] I have two in my stash, an ESCI/ERTL 1/48, and an Academy 1/72. Hope they turn out as well as yours did!!!

Got yourself a real beauty there John. Well done.

Well done John! Makes me want to pull mine back outta the stash. Thanks for the pics! [tup]

Great work. Could never tell it was a kitbash JOHN

That’s a sharp lookin’ Sabre…

I’m diggin’ that truck and the fuel tanks and rack, too.

Just a heads up John, the majority of the links on the model page from your site all seem to be dead. The first and last are okay, and one other goes to a full-sized image, albeit the wrong one. The rest are ‘no joy’…

Fade to Black…

Having seen the work you’ve done to get to this stage, I can truly say “amazing!” She’s a real beauty.

Nicely done John [tup].

Regards, Rick

I’m pleased that you guys find the model acceptable. It has a few warts as usual, but it is a great billboard and I like it a lot myself[:)]. Steve, the reason the web site had broken links is that I just finished it this morning, so if you like you can look there now.

Mike, the markings are those of Robbie Risner’s F-86E. Not any fiction involved except to the extent that I may have comitted errors, but they are pretty accurate compared to photos and I found enough to be pretty sure of them. More details of Risner are on my website, link shown on my first post. The nose of the Academy kit is a bit of work, getting a lot of conflicting parts like the cockpit, inlet duct, nose gear bay, and nose cone all lined up at the same time.

That is one nice looking F-86.

Great Job!

John, that looks most excellent. You decals look painted on. A real beauty.

Beautiful work on the Sabre. The finish is truly superb. The overall model shows the results of your extra effort.

Beautiful build, my favorite subject!

May I asked what kits you used for the Ground Support Equipment(that is if you didn’t scratchbuild them!). I see there is a tug and a truck in the background.

Nice job. Is that the only way to get an E? I’ve got a subject that I want to do but it’s an E too.
