Does anyone know what ejection seat the f-8e crusader used?I found 2 different seats - the mk.5 & mk.7 - both said were used on the f-8e.Was one for the early f-8e’s then switched or what?[%-)]

Yep, ejectionsite is one great website. To be quick, the later Mk. 7 seat, similar to that in the Phantom, was put in the F-8 starting with a retrofit on E and/or RF-8G models. I think the same seat was also used on some European F-104’s as well.
Prototypes and early production F8U (and early F-8) Crusaders used a bang seat that was produced by Vought. From 1962 through '68, the Crusader used the Martin-Baker Mk F5. After 1968, the Mk F7 was intoduced. Hope this helps.
Well, I was going to say what FJLOMM just said, but he beat me to it.
After the F-8U-2N they switched over to the Martin-Baker.
I guess Chance Voughts own seat was horrible.
