I’m very happy to announce, that I got my project building Richties/DeBellevue MiG Killing F-4E 67-362 in 1:32 scale ready.
I’m very proud to had the close assistance of Col Chuck DeBellevue for making an accurate Model:
I agree with Rick, but then again. If you can paint that smooth with a brush? Who needs an airbrush! [bow]
A great looking Spook and a good article also. [tup]
after a long discussion with Chuck DeBellevue, we found out that the AIM-9s carried by “362” were not the J model but the E model. The J model came later in Sept-Okt in SEA…
It’s too late now to correct that, but anyway…
So If you want to build the “362” please find and put the AIM-9Es on it (look at the att. pic)
excellent Phantom Menelae,
good painting job.
I encourage you anyhow to use an airbrush and GUNZE or TAMIYA acrylics.
Your find easier to use and easy to correct. No thinners smell too.
Color thickness will be minimal and detail revealed 100%.
With your skill and care you will do miracles with an airbrush
You have the sidewinder load out correct. The 33 TFW was the first unit to use the AIM-9J. We were testing them prior to our deployment to linebacker. All of our aircraft in the 58 TFS had the newer Aero 3B launchers replacing the Aero 7A launchers. All of the launchers were modified to carry the J model AIM-9. The modification involved adding a relay and a different cannon plug to connect to the missile. To fly with anything other than the J model, we would have to remove the modified launchers and install un modified launchers.
On our deployment to Linebacker we took AIM-9J’s with us. After our deployment we left them with the host unit and did not bring any back to the states with us.
I can’t remember when we didn’t fly with the AIM-9J on operational combat missions during linebacker. We had plenty of them and were the only unit to fly with them. Other units did not fly with them because they didn’t have the modified launchers.
