I’m looking for recommendations on books about VietNam era Air Force F-4 Phantom operations. Not reference books, but books about air operations and the war itself. Kind of like “Thud Ridge” for the F-105.
I’m also looking for books on F-4G/F-16CJ “Wild Weasel” operations and for WWII B-17s. I’ve read “Those Who Fall” as part of my B-17 research, but am looking for additional information. Again, not reference or technical books, but a good story.

There is one entitled, “A War Too Long: The History of the USAF in Southeast Asia, 1961-1975” that is 112 pages long and another entitled “The Tale of Two Bridges and the Battle for the Skies over North Vietnam” that is 205 pages long. There is plenty to read here.
Try these novels, even though fictional they are historically based. Good summer reads.
Rolling Thunder, Steel Tiger, and Phantom Leader, all by Mark Berent (on Phantoms) and Termite Hill by Tom Wilson (F-105G Wild Weasels)
Interesting time period for the F-4 you’ve chosen. It went through alot of modifications during Nam’ because it wasn’t good at dogfighting up close.
MiG’s were tearing them up inside missle range. They had to tweak the aircrafts ability to fight in close quarters with boom and zoom and turn and burn manuevers.
