I am just strtinf a model of the F-22 (Italeri 1/48th). I know it is a difficult object and not of the best quality. I would like to finish it in the latest colours of the F-22 now entering service. Anyone has a good ref on the net to see up to date pictures. Any reference to th FS. nr would help for the colours.
Hi,
This problem comes up frequently…
The in-production F-22’s have some sort of mettalic colours.
The prototype F-22’s were painted in standart USAF Light Ghost Grey and Dark Ghost Grey.
If you search Google for images of operational Raptors, you’ll see that they have a very mettalic and shiny camo.
I have the 1/48 Revell F-22 ( the same mould as yours ), and I’m going to paint it in the 2 coulours stated above, mixed with some metallic shades.
The operational F-22’s are very hard to paint !
Good luck with your build !
Cheers,
Jürgen
Lockheed Martin has posted the FS colors of the F/A-22 online and can be viewed at:

FS36173

FS36251

Some people have stated that the Raptor wears Mod-Eagle colors, but this is not the case. Mod Eagle uses the same light gray, but a different dark gray. the Mod Eagle dark gray is FS36176

As to why the F/A-22 has the finish it does? I asked that question once of someone who would know. Their response? “No comment”
Here is some more info on the dif btw the two:
