If you haven’t already been to this site you can go and see what can be accomplished with a Monogram kit. Granted Mr. Tan put a lot of work into this build but It still started life as a Monogram kit. I didn’t want to post it on the Monogram discussion because I was afraid everyone is so tired of it that this post wouldn’t get read.

I’m just about finished building this very same kit. Mine doesn’t look anywhere near as nice though. I’m not that good a modeler in the first place. Not yet anyway [:)] I didn’t know how to rescribe panel lines when I started this one, and I was just learning to airbrush also. He also used lots of resin and aftermarket stuff that I didn’t and didn’t know about when I started building mine. Looking at his makes me want to get another one to try and get something similar. I know that I’m better now than when I started and could do a better job if I did another, but I’m nowhere near that guy’s league. That is an amazing bug.

Yep, that’s a nice piece of work. As with any kit, you get out of it what you put into it. The results can be just as good no matter where you start.
I just wanted to say that Mr. Tan did an excellent job! I remember building the Mono White/Blue F/A-18 years ago ( darn, giving away the age again!) I hope to soon have the Hornet pics that I have taken over the years put on to CD so that modelers like Mr. Tan have a few more references:)
