Hi everyone, I need a little help. What is the best way to get the smoked or gold tinted canopy on an F-16? I’ve got a 1/48 scale Hasegawa kit and really could use your input.

Three little words. Tamiya Clear Paints. They have all the colors you would need, smoke, green, red, blue, yellow.

Eagle334 is correct on those three lil words. You say you have the Hasegawa 16??
All the 16’s that I have by Hasegawa gave a choice of two different canopies(clear and smoked).
Be careful when painting,build up the tint gradually…!!!
Anybody that you talk to who knows me, will say that I have more F-16’s than the whole USAF[:p]

Thank you fellas I appreciate the help. Yeah my Hasegawa kit only came with the clear canopy and parts tree so I dont have much choice.LOL All the 16’s I’ve ever seen have the smoked or gold canopies on them.

If you look at enough pictures you’ll find that 16’s used practically every combination of those colors. On some the main canopy is smoked and the back one is clear or vice-versa. Some have the gold canopy and a smoke rear one. Try and figure that one out. Canopies aren’t easy to change so I don’t think they’re just doing it for the fun of it.
You could always take a large testors thinner bottle, put in just enough tamiya gold to cover the bottom, and fill the rest up with future. Put the cap on and shake it up. Leave it over night and you’ll have a nice honey colored brew left in the morning. Dip the canopy in that. Just dont move the bottle afterward

Eagle334 is correct again (Very odd though LMAO) Just kidding Eagle334. Best bet is to check w/ your ref’s on the 16. Either way you decide as described above would not be wrong.
