Has any one tried to tint the F-16 canopy, using yellowor orange transpareint paint? Or with any transparent paint.
I haven’t tried it. The only F-16 kits I have had, Hasegawa, came with tinted canopies. But, I have used Tamiya transparent green on the upper cockpit windows of helicopters. It worked pretty good for that.
I’ve tried several approaches mixed results. I’ve tried Rit Dye, Tamiya Clear Yellow, Future w/Tamiya Yellow, and Future w/food coloring.
The best results were using Future, but while the color
was consistent, the quality of transparency was marginal.
It probably would have been OK if i was doing an open
cockpit build, but because I wanted the cockpit closed,
I elected not to use coloring and stripped it off for maximum
clarity of the cockpit interior.
My advice: try it. If you don’t like it you can remove it.
