F-15 Eagle Fuel tanks

Hi all,

I am in the process of collecting all the bits & pieces together to be able to build 2

F-4G “Wild Weasel’s”…

I have the planes (Hasa)

I have the resin cockpits,

I have the ‘cutting edge’ intakes

BUT I am having issues finding the correct “centreline” fuel tanks…as the F-4G used the F-15 centreline tank…

So I need too know which kit manufacturer makes an F-15 with a centre-line fuel tank.

I have bought from E-bay a F-15A by Revell…but it has no fuel tank…So it’s going back on E-bay soon…

Can anyone help me please…Scale must be 1/48th

I have two pylon tanks that I’m not using on a scrap build. It has paint on it, but I don’t know if this is the type of tank you want.

It’s this type. The light colored tank

It’s a 1/48 scale E, btw.

Another pic to clarify what I’m talking about.

Howde cowboy,

Could you please hold onto them for me, while I await confirmation from a member of the Wild Weasel Society…

Should be no more than a couple of days…

many thanks

Paul

I am not absolutely sure, but I believe the tanks you are interested in are same for centerline and underwing.

Cool, I’ll set them aside.

The F-4G used the F-15 style 600 gallon high speed tank. It could be carried on three stations on the F-15 and only the centerline station on the F-4G. The only difference was the fuel stand pipes were located further forward on the ones used by the F-4G.

So,

Let me get this straight,

Berny 13…Are you saying that the tanks shown in the photos posted by Montana Cowboy

above are the correct style of tank that I need to act as centerline tanks on my F-4G’s ?

These “fuel stand pipes” What are they ? & will I need to model them ?

Montana Cowboy…You have a PM

Cheers

Paul

Yes, they are the correct type of tank. Fuel stand pipes are round pipes that extend from the tank up into the center fuselage. One carried air into the tank and one fuel from the tank into the centerline fuel manifold. The fuel stand pipes wouldn’t be seen very good in 1/48 scale. Of note, the tank did not fit flush with the fuselage but hung down about two inches on the real aircraft, so leave a small gap when installing it. The aft sway brace was the same as used on the F-15 tank with a sway brace mount attached to the keel section of the aircraft.
