F-14A to a B

Is there any way possible to convert a Academy F-14A to a B version. I’m not really into buying a Hase F-14A because they are just too expensive to butcher. If anyone has any advice, I’d be happy to hear it. Thank you

The two most noticable chaanges are the chin pods and the gun bay panels. They are completely different from each other. The chin pod is fairly easy to simulate, as for the panel-thats more tricky. You could possibly make your own from plasticard with the help of some decent reference pics.

I am unaware of any conversion kits at the moment so if you have an “A” version already, then you are going to ask around for spare parts, or scratch-build your own. Sorry I can’t be more helpful, if I find any spares I’ll give you a shout.

Hi,

Another noticable difference between the A, and B models is the exhaust nozzels.

If you are talking about 1/48, Revell issued an F-14D kit. It was the A model with parts for the D, the exhaust nozzels and gun vent panels included. You can use these parts with the A cockpit to make a B model.

The Revell-Monogram F-14D is really more of a B. The cockpit isn’t correct for a D, but it is for an A or B. The chin pod is the one thing you’d have to modify to have a correct F-14B.
