F-104J Pictures

Just finished Hasegawa’s 1/48 scale F-104J in JASDF markings. Built it box stock, as usual, and finished it with BMF. Tried a different kind of wash for the panel lines–Gunze Mr. Metal Color, Stainless. A word of warning: It only works on bare BMF because you can remove the excess with fine steel wool. Kit decals are sturdy and went on easily, although they took a little more soaking than usual. Good thing, 'cause there’s a million of 'em.

More pictures to come as soon as I can get it to the NAF Atsugi runway, my usual a/c photo studio.

As always, thanks for letting me share.

lookin mate!

it’s always good to see bare-metal / silver a/c finishes.

Very impressive!!! [bow]

Very nice build and NMF finish. Thanks for sharing. Keep em coming.

Beautiful work, Don! Nice heated metal discoloration effects around the rear fuselage.

It’s really looking great! That metal is beautifully done. How hard was the bmf to work with?

very nice!![tup][tup][tup]

I agree. Awesome job! [8D] [tup]

Thanks for all the nice comments, guys. Maddafinga, BMF is fairly easy to work with; and the only tools you need are scissors, a sharp blade, and a toothpick. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it tends to lift around the edges if you’re not careful handling it, like around the edges of wings and hatch covers. Give it a try sometime.

Fantastic job [:O]

I always loved the 104, back in the 60’s we would sit at the end or the runway at Cold Lake and watch them take off at night with full afterburners.

great job i hope the monogram one i am doing turns out that good

Very nice looking bird.

Excellent work ‘dagne’ - looking forward to seeing more!

Bob

The bare metal look is fantastic! One day I hope to do something like that, but with the F-86 Sabre…

Great looking stick, Dagne.[8D] The finish on your model is very very good indeed. My hat’s off to you, sir![bow]
