I thought I’d try some different things out today. I took an 11" x 14" print of a plowed-up snowbank from last winter & scanned it for a background. Then I put the LaGGs into the pic. This was an experiment trying a blurred background, changing aircraft numbers (57 to 55), and a different way of doing a prop blur (LaGG on the right). Its pretty boring, compositionally, but we try out new building techniques on junk kits, so why not boring pics?
Pix
I like this Black and White. [:)][:)][8D]
Keep up the great work.[:p]
I think this looks good, too!
Nice shot. What about posing them over a frozen lake with the underside reflections facing the viewer? Neat idea.
Thanks, Sled, mtollens & Keywoth. I was just trying out new things, I didn’t think there was much there visually.
Sled - I like a lot of pics in B&W also. I had to use it because the only pic that I had for a snowy background was from my last photo class. Everything was black & white. (art school - they are reluctant to do color photo). It seems that the majority of pics from my era of interest, WW II, are B&W “snapshots.” I prefer to depict my scenes as they were seen by the participants, in color.
Keyworth - that’s a great idea ! Unfortunately, I don’t have any background pics of my own of that scene. I don’t feel good about “appropriating” someone else’s work in my own, or maybe my instructors have got me scared stiff over the plagerism laws ! I’ll be looking for backgrounds this winter, though.
Thanks for the comments again !
Hey pix it looks great keep up the good work.
Thanks, modelkid ! There’s a new one today !
Excellent work Pix! You should make movies! I always look forward to your projects.
Thanks, 18co ! Here’s a surprise for you . . . I DO make movies ! (well, video at least !)
This is a very nice work, Pix! [:)]
It has an ethereal, eerie quality to it that is quite compelling.
But what exactly are you taping in that picture???[:D]
Nothing, J-Hulk. Just a “prop shot” to answer 18co’s question in a different way. Are you talking about the charcoal drawing in the background ?
I was jus’ kidding ya with the “taping” Q!
My other comments were about the Laggs, but now that you mention it, is that a drawing of yours on the wall?
J-Hulk - yeah, its from my drawing class. We had to do 4 in a series. She didn’t care for my first one (a rodent road-kill), so this one showed that page ripped to reveal this drawing underneath (guy standing under a stormy sky). At least it was different.
Well then, nice drawing, too!
And what kind of art teacher doesn’t appreciate road-kill as a subject? it’s the epitome of a “still life!”
Pix you do some great work with these photos. I am impressed. Thanks.
Bob
Thanks, J-Hulk & Bob.
J-Hulk - What can I say ? She took her art too seriously for my taste, and I wonder if it was still any fun for her. I can’t create when it becomes labor.
ardy - you’re welcome ! Glad you enjoy them.
