Expanse series

Hi folks. I’m wondering if anybody out there can help me with a couple of questions. I have been reading James S. A. Corey’s ‘Expanse’ series of books. I have heard that the series has been now been put on screen and I have seen a couple of models of the space ship featured in the series, the Rocinante, on display at model shows on You Tube.

Does anyone know if there is a kit of this ship, and whether the series is on video? I ask this in this section because if there is a kit I would like to purchase one and watching the series will give me some reference for the build.

Can you give us a little more info? What is the Expanse series- is it sifi?

Don, yes it is sci-fi.

Amazon Prime has the Expanse. It is an amazing 5 season series. Season 6 is due in December and that is the last one. Such a great show. I have not found any kits for the ships in the show yet. If you haven’t seen the show, watch it, it’s great.

Edit: Apparently there is a resin kit. HERE https://www.monstersinmotion.com/cart/item-list-ae-c-13_191/expanse-rocinante-1144-scale-resin-model-kit-p-28358.html

Thanks very much for the response folks. BK, thanking you in particular, not only for the info, but that is a great web site! I can hear my wallet groaning in pain now!

Rocinante is of course Don Quixote’s horse, but also the name of John Steinbeck’s pickup/ camper in his book Travels With Charley.

There are no kits, at least not in injection molded plastic. I think the market is way too small for that to be viable. The Rocinante and other models out there have been resin garage or 3D printed models, or die casts.

Amazing show and an even greater set of books. I started reading them after the first two seasons originally released. Could not put those books down until I had gone through every single one that was out. I think there are 8 books at the moment.

I have been pining over the lost opportunity of an injection molded kit. I have run across a few impressive scratch builds though.

Hope you enjoy the books and the show!

Loved the books, was hanging for a kit, but at over 150US, might have to pass. I will enjoy the vids though, that I can guarantee PhoenixG

Hi;

I am sure if it is out there then Allen Ury at Fantastic Plastic .com would have it

I built one Monsters in Motion kit- Nemo. It even made the magazine.

The basics were sound, and I added a lot of detail to get it to look decent.

Yes, it cost me $ 150 or so.

But I felt like I got my monies worth.

Hey Dodgy-- I sent you a PM on this.

Wonderful show, watched every episode. As I recall they started on Sci-Fi, then we’re taken up by Netflix For the last season.
