I stumbled over this while looking for something else. The general hull layup and deck fixtures are close EXCEPT for…the cannons, the midship anchor chains this list goes on, and on. I know these are built at the .50 cent per hour sweat shops in China, and I would not support them in the least, but you would think someone would could at least look the ship. It’s sorta funny and sad at the same time.
Cannons?
Not only sad, but completely embarrassing.
They forgot the gatling guns and twin propellors, not to mention the radar.
Well she did carry one cannon, a little brass signal carriage gun, seems they have rather overdone it tho’[;)]
i wrote a question to the individual. this is what i posted.
“were did you get the info to put cannons on the cutty sark as she is not armed at all at least not with deck guns? the real cutty sark is still around in england so look at it before selling that piece of monstrosity. that ship in real life was painted but all you did was stain it so i guess you did not research that ship properly & thereby using artistic licence. shame on you.”
And this ‘ere be my reponse. As fair a prize as any we’d taken, she was. Mark my words, she be as fast, and agile, as any vessle ‘er size can be, but takes as large a crew as begs control. Arr, quick be they to mutter mut’ny, and a right nasty a bunch as can be found . took a fair long time t’ cut in them gunports, an swing’n ‘board the guns, aye, that were a piece o’ work t’ be sure. Mark me f 'r a 'arpooned whale should I ev’r be taken to try that ag’in. Aye, that cause’s lost long afore any canvas were ‘oisted, nor the first knot o’ speed r’corded. This ship 'n crew were best sent to 'is locker, 'fore 'er course were ev’r chart’d. Evil days they was, aye, evil days.
My gosh! Did you look at the work someone put into that? The deadeyes are drilled, the belaying pins look like they were individually carved, and though I couldn’t begin to make sense of the rigging, there’s miles of it! Even those stupid guns represent some real work. What a real shame it is that some put that kind of effort and skill into so ill-conceived a design.
If someone were just looking for an accent piece for a room, and didn’t care at all about authenticity, it would make a lovely… ummm… ship-ish looking… ummm… thingey.
IF it was not for the labor issue I would not mind buying 1 and correcting it.
I’m with Big Jake on this one - I cannot in good conscience support state-sponsored slavery, although it is well-nigh impossible to avoid it these days.
