This was a surprisingly nice kit to build, very good fit and nice detail. Fine recessed panel lines which given the age of the kit I found surprising. Superscale Decals for the 80th TFS, 8th TFW. Alclad II ALC-101 overall, with stainless and dark aluminum in some areas.
Great looking build! Back in 2014 I got to see the Collings Foundation F-100F in flight at the Wings Over Houston airshow.
Nice job John! Great looking bird - many they were colorful back then. Are you working through the century series in 1/72?
One of my personal favorites. Came out real nice my man! I love all of the century series.
Thanks for the nice comments, everyone. It does make the hobby more fun when people make the effort to comment when it’s easier to look and move on, especially when you are busy.
Yes, I am, John. I have a Hasegawa RF-101C almost ready for the decals and then I will have an example of each type, but not each variant, in 1/72.
That’s awesome. I am going to follow your builds and posts. Since I was a kid in elementary school, (I’m 55 now), the Century series of fighters has always been a favorite of mine. I often thought how cool it would be to build and display all of them together. Godspeed, haha!
Funny, I missed this one. But you’ve done your usual excellent job on an older kit. Someday I hope to do this.
Gary
Great looking F-100! I can’t wait to see what you’ve done with the F-101 on your bench as that’s one of my favorites.
Thanks, everyone. The F-101 is giving me a few painting challenges. Alclad say that their Aquagloss clear is a good undercoat for the metal colors, but I am finding otherwise because of adhesion problems. Won’t be doing that again!
