I was kindly given a review sample of a new Badger airbrush, the Model 105 “Patriot”. It’s basically a gravity-fed 155 Anthem. The Anthem has been my favorite airbrush for a while, though I always wished there was a gravity-fed model available. Now there is!
I really enjoy it- it’s easy to clean, can do fine line work and wide spray patterns. No wrenches are needed to dissassemble it, and basically it’s just a nice airbrush. It has more ability than I’ve got talent! [:)]
I’ve posted a more thorough review of the airbrush on my modeling blog, if you’d like to take a look at it. It will be available August 1st. Badger lists the MSRP as $119, but you know how that goes- you can find airbrushes at the various online and retail stores for less than the MSRP. Even less with a coupon!
Anyway- I am really very happy with it, and thought I’d share the news about it with everyone.
Well, I’m not a Badger employee… so don’t take this as official word… [:)]
On the 3155 question, I honestly don’t know. I’ll be glad to ask, and pass along what I find out though.
My understanding in regard to where it is relative to the 100LG and Renegade-Velocity is that it is a more affordable gravity-fed option for the hobbyist.
You might find this chart on their website interesting- it classifies where they feel each airbrush falls in terms of which one is recommended for which mediums and area of use. They actually recommend the 155 over the 100 for hobby use! Of course I’m sure they owuld say to each his own, but this is certainly a chart I will refer folks to- I’m sure many would find it helpful!
This is the chart that you refer to. Whoever created it is definitely NOT a modeler.
Some of the 100LG or Omni 4000 users on this forum probably will have a heart attach when they see their airbrush were rated the lowest for hobby use. Even so, it is funny to see that the 100LG-medium is rated “best choice” ONLY for “cake decoration”. [zzz] However, it is obvious that the chart does not rate the quality, just the suitability of applications. It is amazing how they come up with this chart.
Did Badger make any anouncement about the “Patroit” airbrush yet? Is there a 3105 Hybrid in the future? Could not find anything about it at the Badger site and Google only turned up Jon’s recent post. Is it still a trade secret?
Is it a prototype or a real product? Anyone knows how Badger will position this airbrush against 100LG, Omni 4000 and Renegade Velocity from the various Badger product lines?
