Endgame 1946 GB - 1/1/09-12/31/09

That looks like it. Very nice I must say. The pic I say of the Hasegawa had German markings on it though for what looked like Heinz Bar. It had a red 13 on the side. Have no idea why the Germans would be flying one but it makes a cool subject.

Yes I go to Williams Grove every Friday night.

Cool. I am originally from the western part of the state by Butler. Went to Lernerville every Friday night but it has nothing on the Grove.

Um, I could never start the Panther A for the Big Cats GB… maybe I can build it here?

Tamiya 1/35 Panther A, kit #35065

Is that Panther too early for 1946??

That would be fine JMart. I would think that Panther As would have still been used in 1945 until they ran out. Welcome aboard!

WH25- thanks, cheers! I did a bit more research, looks like Panther As were still being used 1945:

“Lieutenant Sotnikov’s Guard Company. This unit used captured Panthers as late as spring of 1945, when they had 3 Ausf As, while operating in Prague (Praga) - district of Warsaw. Soviets held Panthers in high regard and considered captured Panther to be a prize”

“When the Panther Ausf A was first introduced, it saw service in Russia and Italy. Most of the Panther detachments deployed to meet the Allied invasion of France in mid 1944 were equipped with Panther Ausf A, and many of them were still in service at the end of the war.”

Ill follow up down the road with more info… happy Thanksgiving everyone!

That is proof enough for me.

And I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving! [:)]

Just to let everyone know, there is now 30 days until this GB gets underway. [8-][:D]

Anyone is always welcome to join. It would be nice to get some more people to sign up. Need some more variety.

Also, I will be sending out warning-orders later on this evening to the participants I have on the current roster just to make sure I have all the info correct and to finalize things.

Wow WarHammer, I’ve love to join but I’ve got too many GB commitments right now. Maybe if I can build faster or have more time to build (yeah, right!!). I’ve got DML’s M4A3E8, T-26E3, and Panther F in the stash, all of which would qualify…just don’t know if I’ll have the time for them.

BTW, wouldn’t the M24 Chaffee also qualify? They were deployed in late '44 and saw plenty of action in '45. It remained the light tank of the U.S. well into the '50s I believe.

Yes, you are correct about the M24 Chaffe bufflehead.

It would be really cool if you could join. I would love to see either one of those builds. Just start building faster! [swg]

Here is a teaser – most of the resin parts for this conversion.

I’m using the spare fuselage and parts from the Dragon He-162/Me-262 Mistel kit. Only thing I’m missing from that is landing gear doors and wheels however CMK does a nice set of replacement wheels and Quickboost does a set of 262 gear doors so with just a few little extras this project is golden. I’m also going to use a Revi gunsight from Quickboost. The Mistel kit does not include a spare rubber but the Antares kit allows for a V tail conversion option so I’m going to take that path.

That is cool Matt. I have often contemplated getting that conversion set to make a two-seat bomber destroyer. Can’t wait to see how it turns out!

Looking forward to your usual high level of craftmanship Matt

PS love your year in review thread, cheers [#toast]

Warhammer I don’t mean to rain on your parade but if you intend to use this group build thread to show what would have been used in the 1946 campaigns had they occurred then everything in this gb would be what if?

No. As you can see, some of the builds are not what-ifs. Actually, none of them technically are. The Bf-109K-4 that I am building is not a what if, it say actual service and had kills. A “what-if” in my eyes is a subject that a person has dreamed up and has no intention of it ever seeing actual combat. The aircraft that are going to be built and the ones I have listed were at least designed to see actual combat and be used. The idea of this GB is to build those 1945-1946 subjects. I mean, a P-51 would have been in service in 1946, still escourting bomber most likely. Many countries had many projects though that never say combat because the war ended. The P-80, Go-229, T-29, E-100, and many others come to mind and they were not what-ifs. That being said, what-ifs are allowed to be built.

Hi, I have never entred a group build before; I would like to enter with a DML Maus if possible. Thank you.

E~

First of all, [#welcome] to the forums ECS. It is great to have you aboard! If you have any questions about this group build, please fell free to ask. Also, is this the 1/35 or 1/72 DML Maus?

Thank you! Oops; it is the 1/35th DML kit. In the box I also found that I had the Verlinden detail set for it, I may have a metal barrel kicking around as well. It’s been quite a while since I finished an armor kit, so I am looking foreward to this.

E~

Hey Warhammer I just got Tamiya’s new 1/35 JagdTiger and was wondering if I could join

Yes you can! I will put you down for it.
