enamel muck

Are there any drawbacks to adding BBs to paint, in order to assist in mixing?

None that I’ve run into yet.

HEY,
That is a pretty good idea!

I first heard of this tip in FSM “Finishing School” back in 1991in Paul Boyers book “Painting and Finishing Scale Models”. In the book it was suggested that you add one or two BB’s in the paint bottle acting as agitators to aid in shaking/ mixing that enamel muck at the bottom of the bottle. The tip works really well, only be carefull with acrylics, the BB’s could rust over time and contaminate the paint! Yikes!!

Are copper or copper-coated BBs no longer manufactured?

The good thing about BB’s is that if you really mess up the model and can’t stand it anymore---- well, just crank up the ol’ daisy and give the kids target practice! Really though BB’s in the bottle help but eventually you’ll have to add thinner to it and later on the muck will take over. Then it’s time to pitch it and get/brew somemore.
