Eggplane Kits

Historic Aviation has a set of “Eggplane” kits but no kit source/manufacture.

Six WW II a/c for $70.00.

My grandson (whom I’ve intrduced to the hobby), thinks they’re ‘realy cool!’

Now I’ve got to find where to get’em!

Suggestions?[banghead]

SprueBrothers has them. Look under Aircraft kits - miscelleneous. There’s about 30 of them.

I love the eggplanes. Hasegawa makes them. They are what sucked me into the hobby, they seemed like a low-stress build where you didn’t have to worry about historical accuracy… Like DrewH said, Sprue Bros has all except the P-51 in stock. There are only 12 in current production, others only available from e-bay I guess.

I think they are awesome too! I wanna try and get all of them.

Josh

I would love to see one of these superdetailed, with a fantastic paintjob!

I built a handful of those way back in the day (circ. 1970s). My other modeling buddy thought I was off for liking them. They did generate much interest from folks checking my collection.

About two weeks ago, I was delighted to see them once again in my fav hobby store… I think it was about $12 though. Uhh… I thought it a bit too high a price.

Squadron has one of the Hasegawa Eggplanes in this month’s flyer.

I have a couple of these, an SR-71 and a PBY-5. Haven’t built one yet, but they sure look cool! [:D]

I remember those things… Seen a diorama at a show once where some guy had built an aircraft carrier for 'em. The U.S.S. Eggscalibur

I think I saw the “Eggcalibur” in a magazine, it might even have been FSM.

I’ve got that Historic Aviation catalog too. I also went, “hmmmm” at the egg planes. I have a '70s vintage issue of the F-4 in the stash and I’m thinking it needs some friends.

I built the F-4, SR-71 and Shuttle back when they were new, I really liked the clear globe bases that came with the Blackbird and Shuttle. If you painted them from inside they looked really sharp.

Frank Bahre of IPMS Plattsburgh built the F-16 egg plane as an F-16 “Eggs-L” with scratch built double delta wings and loaded 'er up with a bunch of 1/144 weapons from Dragon and Revell kits. It looks real nice, maybe he’ll read this and post some pictures?

I gotta ask. What’s the attraction to these?

They seem pretty popular.

My interpretation is this. This is SD Anime for people who dont like anime

There cute little super deformed kits (in the shape of eggs) for their favorite planes, with a kawaii anime girl on the front of the box.

There SD anime kits of planes, thats all. And there adorable, I want the X-wing one

I guess there were never any figures of the anime girls made, to accompany the kits, were there?

Hi dadfal,
Have a P-51 coming together between my Sea Harrier and F-104, they are just fun, and your g/son will love em.
Here’s another option to look into,

I think there are more aircraft and cars in the Revell series.
Let us see some pics when your g/son gets to sticking them together [:D]
All the best,
Mick. C.

They dont make those figures, as far as I know. but I can tell you it wouldnt be hard to find some equivelant. Just check a shop like hobbyfan, or the like

Too bad if there weren’t any.

try this

I don’t get it. They’re kinda lame, the fuzzy slippers of AC models.
