EF1 Tornado in Anniston

I’ve been without internet for the past few days. We had some severe thunderstorms which passed through on Tuesday night, which produced an EF1 tornado. It passed within a few hundred yards of my location. This resulted in loss of power and internet service. Power was restored within 24 hours, but internet service took a little longer and was only restored tonight.

You never know how dependent we are on technology until you’re without. Then again, I got a bit more done modeling and finished reading Walter Lord’s “The Miracle of Dunkirk” so the time wasn’t entirely wasted.

Gary

I had the same thing happen (loss of internet) for what I assume are nearby construction reasons. I was out for 36 hours! What amazed me was turning on my iPhone hotspot enabled us to browse, and stream to our TVs. I was very impressed.

Glad you’re safe Gary! Being without power for even a day is frustrating but I’m glad you weathered it well.

When that hurricane devastated the Carolinas last year, we saw some of the affects up here in southwest Ohio. I lost 2 willow trees and a pole went down on the neighbors property. We didn’t lose electricity until they came through 2 days after the storm and turned it off. Then they left us without electricity for 2 days.

I always get exited when the power goes out, the wife and kid go absolutely nuts within 3 seconds of no internet. I embrace it, I think it’s rather fun for a few days. Not the natural disaster part though…..

So glad that you’re okay Gary. I’m hoping for a calm Summer with few tornadoes and with the start of the Atlantic hurricane season coming up, few hurricanes.

Thanks! Hoping for a mild hurricane season too, although we don’t get much of an effect from them up here (except for flooding).
