can anyone help me with what part 22 is supposed to look like when assembled? I understand the small piece of plastic rod. Piece 22 is straight on the PE sprue but the picture appears to show something concave. I can’t be looing at this correctly. Thought someone may have a picture of finished work I could check out or an explanation of how I assemble this part?
The illustration for part 22 shows it with the 1mm dowel already attached. That in turn goes on part 23. Part 22 is flat. Eduard’s instructions could be vastly improved by adding a photo or two of completed assemblies or at least a better drawing.
I believe this part represents the rudder pedal adjustment crank. The diagram showing part 22 as round is actually incorrect. It’s elongated, with the plastic rod forming a knob on one end (think of a manual car window crank) and the other end attached to the centre of part 23.
EDIT: Looking again at the diagram, it makes a little more sense. At first it looks like a representation of the part with the plastic rod attached. It isn’t. It’s actually a flat keyhole shaped piece where the plastic rod attaches to the “long” end of the keyhole.
A one aspect drawing can have more than one interpretation. I took a mechanical drawing class and the instructor told us one of the objects we had to make a 3 plan view of could be drawn a second way. Usually only one or two people in the class sees the “other” way. I was the one that saw it different!
Mel I was one of the “other” kids in the class. Glad you could figure it out as I was lost. Between your explanation and the picture from Phil it made complete sense. Now I need to make some stretched sprue for the 1mm rod and I will be set. Here’s my progress so far.
