Been a while since i’ve been on here and havn’t really touched any models since then. Moved about 4,000 km and am now a short bus ride away from the West Edmonton Mall. If things settle down for me i’ll be getting back into building models.
I’ve seen one store that intrested me in the WEM named “Kites and other delights” and compaired to every other store I’ve been to it was heaven. But i’ve heard about much better and bigger hobby stores in Edmonton and was woundering if anyone here could name them?
The phone book is packed with hobbie shops, but i don’t have the time or patience to go see even half of them.
So can anyone name off one or 2 that are really worth visiting that offer more then what’s in the WEM? (Btw, it may be a while before i’m able to reply).
There is one on the Yellowhead in North Edmonton and 140th st. I know the owner and it’s not bad (was better when I ran it[:P]) Other than that, there wasn’t very much. There may be new ones now so you will have to take you time and make a day and go hobby shopping[:D]
Do you live there now? Shoot me a PM and I’ll get you in touch with the local club if you need.
Here’s a couple of recommendations from a guy I know who lives in that area:
He also suggests Uncle Bill’s Hobby in Calgary, which is a pretty good shop. Not quite as good as Drew’s and mine favorite shop in North Van, but pretty close. He might even car pool!
Well, i visited Hobby Wholesale today, and was totally disappointed. Sure, it had a crap load of RC/railroad/car models but when i went to the military section it seem to have been a afterthrough for the store owners.
They did have a nice selection of HUGE air/armor models, and a good boat section but this wasn’t what i was looking for. In the end “Kights & other delights” had more of what i wanted.
Aside for all of this, thanks though for telling about the store, still a LOT better then anything back in Newfoundland.
I’ll visite the other one some time later, after giving a call first.
