Is there a kit of Dan Gurney’s 1967 Eagle Weslake around? I’ve searched far and wide, and only seen one die-cast pre-finished kit of it. Would like to build one myself, in as large a scale as possible. That is the best-looking F1 car ever in my opinion!
Also, does anyone know of a shop anywhere that sells the Tamiya 1/12 classic F1 cars? The Lotus 49 for example. I know there are a few on eBay, but just out of curiosity I’d like to know if any shops have them.
Hello.
I am currently building the 1967 Gurney Eagle in 1/12th scale.
I am using two Tamiya 1/12th scale kits to do this conversion.
The first kit is Tamiyas Honda F1. The body of the Honda kit is used as the base for the Eagle body. A lot of filler was used to re-create the eagle in both the main tub and the nose. I also used the engine, gearbox, and wheels from the Tamiya Matra kit for this conversion. (highly modified) There is far to much to tell you how I am doing this but after 6 months of working it is almost completed. The conversion will be featured on www.modersite.com in the next few months.
In the meantime I can send you some pictures if you like.

The only other kit I know of Dan Gurneys 67 Eagle Weslake is in 1/43rd scale. It is made by SMTS of England and it is very nice but also very small.
The Lotus 49 is long out of production so I doubt if anyone would still stock this kit. Ebay is your best bet.
