What is your best way to keep your models from dust?
Also, what is your way to clean them up once they caught some dust?
I know the answer to the first question-but i want your opinion too- but in the second?
I have buid a year now a 1/48 B-1B REVELL. Cant fit in any glass case. Have tons of dust. What do you suggest?
thanks anyway
To get dust off, you could blow it off with a airbrush or use a REALLY soft duster. Just suggestions, not really sure what to do. Good luck.
A REALLY soft artist brush is my weapon of choice. Whatever you use, you have to be careful, and more importantly, patient.
i would recommend a very large soft brush or a can of the air cleaner you use for computers…you can hold it back pretty far and it will still remove mounds of dust but not harm it at all…i dust mine of with a brush.i dip it in water than dry it almost all the way off, then dust away
I had built a display case 5 ft tall, 3 ft wide and 1 ft deep at the top and 2 ft deep at the bottom to accomodate the larger 1/48 bombers. Had about 7 glass shelves with two 18 in. wide glass doors on the front. The wife has since taken it over since my model building declined and I never finshed the B-17, B-24 or B-29. I think I could have gotten the B-29 in the bottom by angling and slightly tilting the tail and wing up a few inches.
How about a “shadow box” deep enough for the tail to clear with the B-17 secured to the base hang it on the wall for a “top” view of the Fortress. I’ve seen models displayed hanging on a wall before but they weren’t covered and still had the dust problem.
I used to have an old “water pic” that I woud put on low and “power” wash the dust off. Had to be careful if the decals werent sealed. Now a soft brush and warm water usually does the trick.
