Dusek are developing a 1/72 POB kit of “Santisima Trinidad”, the Spanish flagship at Trafalgar. I think the kit looks very promising, it even has laser-cut spiled planking!
Thanks for posting that information. I missed it somehow over at MSW. Although I am not a wooden ship builder, the ST has always been on my wish list as a big scale plastic kit.
The thing that bothers me, though, is the different form factor of those ships compared to modern warships. The fineness ratio of modern warships is high. I can find a number of shelves to display modern warships and especially lakers. But the extremely low ratio of old ships, whose width is even greater than hull, due to long main yard, means those shelves will not support an old sail ship. If I ever do complete my Soleil Royale, I sure don’t know where I’ll put it. The thing is over 14 inches wide! And that is only a 1:96 scale.
