I found this stuff at O’Reillys Auto Supply. $7ish
I’ve been using Duponts version but its becoming very difficult to find and is about 4x the price of this Duplicolor.
Yeah, yeah, yeah I realize this stuff isn’t a must but its something I like to use. If this Duplicolor stuff works out I can buy several years worth for what I was paying for a single can. One will probably do 8-10 models as it goes a long way.
I’ll post updates as to how it compares.
I’m not familiar with either. Is it a primer, or an additive one adds to paint?
The Duplicolor comes in an aerosol spray can. Its basicly a clear primer. Although I’ve been applying it as sort of a preprimer primer. [:$] Still in the experimental stages.

I was sold stuff called “Plastic Primer” by Duplicolor - I believe we’re talking about the same thing here. I’ve been using it several times, but I’m not so sure what to write… While I didn’t have any negative effects I’m also not so sure the stuff is doing anything for me. I’m wondering all the time: Why clear? That makes it hard to say if the surface was covered well or not. It doesn’t really make sense for me. I also confused the cans once and sprayed this stuff on top of a metallic coat. I was able to sand it down a little and recoat with clear without wasting the whole job. Sure would like to get more definite pointers as to “What is it good for”, like the song said [:D].

The can is a darkish red and says “Adhesion Promoter”. Probably the same thing.
I’ve not been using it long enough to say if it will be good, bad, or, no difference.
It does go on clear but there is still enough on a sheen that you can still tell areas that you missed.
Realize that this material is designed to use on plastic (metals too) automotive parts that you want to paint.
I’ve just learned that many people are using this stuff to prepare their game controllers for painting.
If you don’t believe in this material then don’t use it. I became aware of it thought it might have some potential and presented it to the Finescale community as an FYI.
As I understand it the product is multipurpose for all kinds of surfaces.
One of which is chrome or highly polished aluminum over which the painter wants to apply a clear color spay (smoke,red,green) this way the original chrome shine will come through the clear color= a colored chrome.
So that is why it is a clear primer
