Dumb question about group builds

What exactly are group builds and how do I get involved? I would love some cool badges.

There are no dumb questions. A GB is a bunch of people building models that fall into a particular category usually with a time limit. It can be broad like the WWII Aircraft GB so any plane the flew in that war can be built. It can be more specific like a certain battle, a particular A/C or tank, ship sci-fi or car etc. Then it is everyone just having a good time shooting the breeze, exchanging ideas, sources of research etc… Speaking of shooting the breeze, to see what I mean, look at the Battle for Germany GB, 32 pages w/627 replies and it does not even start for 2 ½ months. To join you pretty much just need a subject that fits and the desire to have a good time. Ask to join in…have not seen anyone denied yet.

[#ditto], although I would like to add the point of GB’s is not about getting “cool badges.”

Well some have been turned away from the young guns but lets not get into that again.
But yeah basically what they both said.

The idea of Group Builds is a group modelers sharing a somewhat narrower field of interest in a particular segment of modeling. You can go to the Group Build section of this forum for a view of the many different subjects of group builds. Everyone shares their knowledge, resources, successes, failures and (most) their photos of inprogress and finished models. Participation certainly hightens the enjoyment of building models as well as increases your knowledge and abilities. Display of the “badges” is merely the tip of the iceberg as an indication of which GBs you are or have participated in.
